Her mastery extends beyond the kitchen and Carrie has also been recognized for her partnership with local churches and community centers to feed and help seniors in the greater Fort Worth Community. Carrie Lou's is what it is today because of a beautiful lady named Carrie Lou Williams, Chef Carrie’s namesake and Great-Grandmother.

“Mrs. Carrie Lou Williams was a great inspiration to me she always took great care of my brother and I so well. We always had three to four square meals a day plus snacks and lots of love. I sat and watched my mother and Great-Grandmother prepare meals from scratch and her famous peach cobbler that everyone loved. Learning and growing up in church and her home, I was bound to be great. The Lord has blessed my hands and given purpose to my gift of cooking. I serve by feeding people and help those unable to prepare a home cooked meal for themselves. I am truly humbled by God’s blessings towards me.”
